When it was announced a couple months ago the students in my program (international affairs) somehow decided that it was the right occasion to complain about gender bias in the selection of conference speakers (the irony in part that the organizer of the conference was a woman, but whatever). You might imagine that my protestations that actually it was a pretty good lineup if one was actually interested in disasters and response in the US didn&#039;t go so far. 

I did think it would have been nice if there was more international orientation. 

Michel-Kerjan, by the way, is also one of the big names in cat modeling.</description>
